Who can raft?
Between the spring adrenaline rush, to the more
moderate July descents, AZUR offers rafting
expeditions for every need. We invite everyone,
young and old, to come and try it out. We require an
acceptable physical condition and that the
participants know how to swim. People with a chest
size greater than a 52'' can not participate in a
nautical activity with Azur. That measurement
exceeds the maximum size of our lifejackets. Though
we do not require a minimum age, we do ask that
participants weight at least 90 pounds for rafting,
sportrafting and sportyaking.
During the summer months, children of eight or more
(accompanied by an adult), can take part in a day of
'family rafting'.

What's the best time for rafting?
AZUR offers expeditions seven days a week between the
months of April and October.
During spring, melting snow and ice combined with
seasonal rains brings the highest water levels. If you
look good in a wet suit and are looking for the excitement
of big water, spring conditions are for you.
Summer remains the most popular season for rafting.
Moderate water levels and warmer temperatures allow us
to cater to a wider variety of expectations.
If you are looking for a milder day on the river, it's
no problem! Simply consult with your guide before you
embark and they will provide a 'dryer' run for you.
On the other hand, if your tastes run on the wilder
side ... our guides will do everything to satisfy
you. They'll choose riskier lines, and gutsy moves -
anything to please. And that's what Azur is:
professional service aiming solely at satisfying your
needs.
One doesn't often think about rafting during the fall
season, but it's a surprisingly good time of the year
for rafting. Rains will often bring the water levels
back up, while the trees and nature adorn themselves
with flamboyant colors. It is the best occasion for
nature lovers to come and raft with us.

When should I make a reservation?
Some days sell out very fast. Considering that space
is limited, we suggest that you contact our Montreal
office as soon as you can, in order to find out available
dates.
Even though advanced reservations are preferable, we will
gladly do our best to accommodate any last minute
reservation if possible.
-
How many paddlers per boat?
Rafting: Our small 14-foot rafts have room
for eight paddlers plus their guide.
Sportyaking: You will paddle alone or with a
friend while an Azur kayaker accompanies you.
Sportrafting: Our even smaller 13-footers only
allow six paddlers plus their guide.
-
Is it possible to reserve my raft?
Reservations are made in accordance to the number of
available places in every boat. Our staff will do
everything in its power to satisfy your requests.
Bare in mind that the earlier you make your reservation, the
better the chances that your request will be fulfilled.
-
Can I ask for a particular guide?
Nothing pleases our guiding staff more than getting
"requests". If you wish to book a particular
guide, just ask in advance when you make your
reservation. We will do everything we can to make him or
her available for you.
-
What should I bring?
All year round you will need:
- Swimming suit or
trunks
- Running shoes or sandals
- Towel
- Change of clothes
- Straps for your glasses
In the spring you will also need:
-
Wool clothes (socks, top, headwear, gloves)
-
Thermal layer - polyester or polypropylene
undergarments are highly recommended.
Cotton absorbs a great deal of water and will keep you
cold when you're wet. This is why we recommend that
you wear synthetic or wool undergarments because they
retain their insulating poperties even when wet.

How do I get to Azur?
-
Where can I stay?
Azur offers basic camping facilities with no
electricity or running water ($7/night per person).
For those in need of more comfort, just ask when you make your
reservation and we will provide you with a list of
lodgings nearby.

Should I tip my guide?
Many of our guests ask us, "Should I tip my
guide?". Our high level of service is not exercised
in order to receive a tip. We serve you because we want
to. If you feel the service you receive from your guide is
exceptional and would like to say "thank you"
with a tip - although it is not expected - it is always
appreciated.
